FAQ
Frequently asked questions
General
Which platforms are supported?
NinjaTrader 8 (desktop, Windows) is the complete edition: every indicator plus two automated strategies, by subscription. The full suite is coming to TradingView (web, desktop and mobile) through its official Marketplace. The free Session Levels Lite is available on both today.
Which markets does it work on?
Any symbol: futures, stocks, ETFs, forex and crypto, on any timeframe. Session tools follow New York time (the 09:30 open, plus Asia, London and overnight ranges for markets that trade around the clock) and convert from your chart's time zone automatically. Our research, including the testing behind the two momentum rules, was done on NQ and ES futures.
Do the indicators repaint?
No. Everything is calculated on completed bars. A level, label or signal never moves or disappears after the bar that created it has closed.
Do I need a paid TradingView plan?
No. Session Levels Lite works on any TradingView plan once your username has access. Your plan's limit on indicators per chart still applies.
Does it trade for me?
The indicators don't place orders. The NinjaTrader strategies can, but only if you add them to a chart, choose Live mode and enable them on an account. Start on a Sim account. You're responsible for every trade on your account.
How does the NinjaTrader license work?
You receive a license key by email after you subscribe. Save it in one text file on your computer and the indicators check it automatically. They keep working for up to 72 hours offline. If your subscription ends, they stop at the next check.
Can you guarantee results?
No one honestly can. Holdout Pro gives you clear context and two rules with a tested track record, but every rule has losing days and losing stretches. Start small or on a simulated account, and read the risk disclosure before trading real money.
How much does it cost?
The NinjaTrader 8 edition is $39 a month or $349 a year in USD. Session Levels Lite is free on both platforms. Cancel any time and keep access until the end of the period you paid for. New subscribers can get a full refund within 7 days.
Is there a free version?
Yes. Holdout Lite (prior-day high, low and close plus the overnight high and low) is free on both NinjaTrader 8 and TradingView. Sign up for it and we'll also email you when the full suite reaches TradingView.
Session Levels
Which session times does it use?
Regular session 09:30–16:00 ET, Globex open 18:00 ET, Asia 18:00–02:30, London 03:00–09:30 and premarket 04:00–09:30, all in US Eastern time.
Does it repaint?
No. Each level is fixed once its session has completed. Developing ranges (for example today's overnight range before 09:30) update until the session ends, then freeze.
Is there a free version?
Yes. Session Levels Lite (prior-day high, low and close plus the overnight high and low) is free on both NinjaTrader 8 and TradingView.
Volume Profile
What is a naked POC?
A point of control from an earlier session that price has not traded back to. Many traders treat it as a magnet. The indicator removes it as soon as a later bar trades through it.
Can I use it instead of the built-in profile?
Yes. It includes the session profile, so on platforms that limit indicators per chart it can replace a separate profile indicator.
VWAP & Bands
09:30 or full-session anchor?
09:30 matches what most day traders and institutional desks reference. The full-session anchor includes the overnight hours, useful if you trade futures, forex or crypto around the clock.
Market Structure
What's the difference between BOS and CHoCH?
A break of structure continues the current trend (an uptrend breaking its last high). A change of character is the first break against it (an uptrend breaking its last higher low).
Does it repaint?
Swings appear only after later closed bars confirm them. The newest swing can move to a more extreme high or low while its leg is still running, which is how any zigzag tracks a trend; once the next opposite swing is confirmed it never moves again. BOS and CHoCH markers are drawn on the closing bar and never change.
Supply, Demand & Liquidity
Which zones matter most?
In our testing, zones containing the prior day's point of control, a value-area edge or a round number were the ones worth paying attention to.
Opening Range Breakout
Why 15 minutes and not 5?
In our tests, the 15-minute range with a wide stop at the other side of the range clearly outperformed 5- and 30-minute ranges and tight stops.
What is the CVD check?
Cumulative volume delta adds up volume traded at the ask minus volume traded at the bid since the open. Breakouts that went against it lost money in both of our test periods, so they are skipped.
Does it work on 1-minute charts?
Yes — it builds its own 15-minute range and decisions from the chart's bars, so you can watch it on a 1-minute chart.
Noise-Area Momentum
Why hourly checks instead of every 30 minutes?
Checking hourly cut about 30% of the trades and their costs while keeping the effect, so it became the default. You can change it.
Did you change the published rule?
Only the check interval. Everything else follows the paper. The paper used the S&P 500 ETF; we confirmed the rule on years of NQ and ES futures data before including it.
NinjaTrader Strategies
Can I run both strategies?
Yes, on separate charts. On one account they net into a single position, so many traders run them on separate accounts.
Core Trend & Extras
Are these on TradingView too?
Not yet — they're NinjaTrader-only for now. TradingView subscribers get the three core scripts.
