Market Structure indicator
Read the trend the way price-action traders do: higher highs and higher lows, lower highs and lower lows, and the break that confirms a shift.

What it draws
- Swing highs and lows labelled HH / HL / LH / LL, joined by a zigzag that always alternates high, low, high
- Break of structure (BOS) and change of character (CHoCH), with CHoCH highlighted
- The developing leg from the last swing to the current extreme
- Trend state (uptrend, downtrend, expansion or compression) in the included MTF Panel
- Pivot strength and label size adjustable
How it works
A swing high is a bar whose high is the highest of the bars on either side (pivot strength). It is only confirmed after those right-side bars close — so labels don't appear early and then vanish.
Each swing sits at the true extreme of its leg, and highs and lows always alternate — if price makes a higher high before any swing low forms, the swing moves up to it instead of leaving two highs in a row.
Good to know
- Each swing label appears once closed bars confirm the swing (3 bars by default). The newest swing can still move to a more extreme price until the next opposite swing confirms; after that it is final.
- Structure is at its best framing a trade (which side to favour, where stops sit) alongside your own entry trigger.
Questions
What's the difference between BOS and CHoCH?
A break of structure continues the current trend (an uptrend breaking its last high). A change of character is the first break against it (an uptrend breaking its last higher low).
Does it repaint?
Swings appear only after later closed bars confirm them. The newest swing can move to a more extreme high or low while its leg is still running, which is how any zigzag tracks a trend; once the next opposite swing is confirmed it never moves again. BOS and CHoCH markers are drawn on the closing bar and never change.
